Congratulations on all of the new business! I can't tell you how great it is to hear about thriving companies; however, I am not too surprised to hear that a design consulting firm, who REALLY listens to their clients is doing well :)

Keep up the great work!

Change is inevitable, but never easy. No one is ever eager to walk away from what's familiar — no matter how humble, homespun, or horrible it may be. (Not that the Grafik lobby is any of those things. Fact is, I've always liked it). But we have to remember to think of branding as an evolutionary process. If you don't evolve, you might not survive.

Best be bracing everyone you encounter on a daily basis to watch out, as you're going to be experiencing some serious withdrawal. Night sweats, shakes, paranoia... again, good luck.

I think the iphone or even high speed internet has changed the way we live- some for the better- some not so much. At first instant connectivity meant that we lost the boundary between home and work. This is great when you have extra work and do not want to be in the office- but it is horrible when work intrudes on your home life. When my kids were little there was no internet- yep I am that old... but the benefit was that when I left work, I left work. period.

The iphone now allows you instant access to everything anywhere anytime- but it also means you are very rarely unplugged or unavailable- and work intrudes on life even more. For me the tipping point with the iphone came when I started taking it upstairs to my studio to photograph some of my work in progress. Now that is a great thing... but every time the damn phone bonged- letting me know I had mail, I put down what I was doing, and attended to work emails- even at 1 in the morning. This is decidedly not a good thing for me. And then I started keeping the iphone next to my bed at night- then I knew I was in trouble. My solution- a digital camera and I park my phone in my handbag downstairs after 8pm. And I am far happier that way.

I think the main push for the idea to have an online annual report is to be effective in reaching the audience. When traditional annual reports were printed, they need to be distributed to all over the country and to all the local chapters and donors. And the leftover would have to be stored and archived. Also, Volunteers of America can now, through the annual report site, easily track user activities and get a better understanding of how their messages/stories are received.

For the audience who may not feel comfortable viewing content online, downloadable PDFs (in full and/or in parts) are only one click away (located within a persistent navigation at the upper right). Users can simply print out the entire annual report and read it on paper.

I think this is a very positive and encouraging step Volunteers of America has taken for this year annual report, and I am certain it will continue to improve by taking more steps forward in future years.
